Opportunity Summary

First Foundation - presently a small, but successful and well respected independent mortgage brokerage operating primarily in the Edmonton capital region, has identified an opportunity to offer more value to its clients by entering the property and casualty insurance business. As an independent insurance brokerage, First Foundation Insurance is seeking a great person to join our team that will embody many of the same strengths that have made First Foundation Residential Mortgages a leader in its industry.

Specifically, we are hiring one person to join our rapidly growing company in the position of a "Personal Lines Account Executive".

As a Personal Lines Account Executive you will be involved in one of the most important decisions in our customers' lives - obtaining or reevaluating appropriate personal insurance coverage. You will also be responsible for all aspects involved with the sales and servicing a Personal Lines Book of Business, including handling all pertinent documentation. Mining an existing book of business for additional lines of coverage and cross selling with other First Foundation services is key to this role. By taking the time to really understand the client’s individual situation and recommending additional coverages, as needed, you will be in a position to assist clients in the way First Foundation is known and respected for. You will also be part of a team that is committed to saving people time, money, and grief.

As a Personal Lines Account Executive at First Foundation Insurance you will be a full-time employee working in a professional office environment surrounded by other professionals. You will be in a position to work with clients in person at our office, over the phone, over email and the web. Your working hours will be Monday-Friday, 8am -4pm or 9am -5pm with a degree of flexibility.

Unlike most Mortgage or Insurance Brokerages, First Foundation doesn't believe that its staff or its clients are best served by a commission-only structure. For that reason, the position of Personal Lines Account Executive is a salaried, full-time position with the ability to earn additional commission and bonuses as part of the compensation. Holidays and benefits are included and you will not be asked to work odd hours, meet clients in coffee shops, or their homes (or yours).

Candidate Profile

We're looking for just the right person to join our team. Because our team places a high priority on working well together as a group, we want nice people that we get along with. We want to work with people who enjoy life, have a pleasant demeanor, and a smile on their face.

This position is best suited to people who are:
Honest and ethical
Sociable
Able to work at a quick pace under pressure
Detail oriented and organized
Flexible and adaptable
Calm and collected
Of a helpful nature

If you are a grumpy person, don't like people, can't meet deadlines, are kind of shady, make lots of mistakes or are stuck in your ways, you're not a good fit here at First Foundation.

About First Foundation

First Foundation is an exciting, young and agile company which gives us the ability to adapt quickly when market conditions change. Although we are a brand new brokerage, our Managing Partner brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Our business model has attracted the support of national and international insurers that are excited about partnering with us.

First Foundation is especially well positioned for growth as a company with a young, well trained, personable staff that constantly gets positive feedback from its clients. As a company with a strong reputation to uphold, the winning candidate will be called upon to maintain and contribute to the company's success and image in the community.

We want someone who can have fun while dealing with pressure. The insurance industry is very fast-paced, hectic at times, demanding, and can be pressure-packed. We want to work with people who can handle that and keep a smile on their face, get along with their co-workers, and fit into our culture. We don't want prima-donnas, grumpy people, or people who take themselves too seriously. At the same time, you need to be able to get serious when it comes to your work, be honest and professional at all times, and always put the clients first. We strive for a team atmosphere and lone rangers typically don't fit in here.
