Location Edmonton, AB T5S 0A3 Industry Residential Plumbing Job Type Full Time Years of Experience 3 to 5 Years Salary $45,000 to $53,000 About the Job Habberjam Mechanical Inc. is a residential plumbing, and radiant heating installer, servicing Edmonton and area for over 13 years, requires a Human Resources / Administrative Assistant to lead the organizational development that supports the growth of both employees and the company. The HR / Admin Asst. will report directly to the General Manager and President in regards to development and implementation of HR strategy, policies, practices and programs for employment, recruitment, compensation, benefits and employee development. Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and helping resolve work-related problems. The HR / Admin Asst. is responsible for understanding the compliances to labour laws and regulations, and act as the key point of contact with government ministries and other regulatory agencies. Responsibilities The Human Resources/ Administrative Assistant responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following: - Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of HR development. - Identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of the organizations employee policies and practices. - Administer, analyze, and modify compensation and benefits to establish competitive programs, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and provide assistance with employee inquiries and changes. - Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations. - Create new hire files; set up, file changes, hours, adjustments, manual updates, driver’s abstracts, banking info, criminal background checks, and termination documentation. Maintain and update employee performance appraisals, absenteeism, and contact information on database. - Monitor documented field employee hours with GPS report for payroll. Transmit payroll data to President for processing. Administer direct deposit slips to employees. - Build strong relationships and develop partnerships with local organizations, recruitment agencies, and educational institutions, identify and implement a strong apprenticeship program. - Answer and manage incoming calls when required. - Coordinate monthly staff and supervisors meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting meeting minutes and action items, meeting room arrangements and setting up equipment as required. - Draft, modify, and prepare correspondence, various reports, memos, emails, and presentation materials. - Participate and assist in various projects and company initiatives as required. - Other related administrative tasks as directed. - Understanding of confidentiality within company guidelines. Qualifications - 3 to 5 years experience in a human resource environment - CHRP designation (preferred), Bcom or equivalent post secondary education certification. - Past experience in construction organization an asset. - Knowledge of employment and labor laws. - Excellent customer service skills with a well developed professional phone manner. - Experience in benefits administration and reconciliation. - Intermediate to advance level computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and Simply Accounting) - Proven time management and communication skills both written and verbal. - Strong organizational skills including effective prioritization and follow-up. - Meticulous attention to detail, able to analyze problems and provide solutions. - Able to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy. - Work well independently and in a team environment. | |
